Tomahawk Steak – RecipeTin Eats

Cooking method:

1. Preheat your oven to 135°C / 275°F (fan forced / convection) or 150°C / 300°F (standard oven).

2. Place the seasoned tomahawk steak on a wire rack over a baking tray to catch drippings. This allows air to circulate around the steak, helping it cook more evenly.

3. Roast the steak in the oven until it reaches an internal temperature of 50°C / 120°F for rare, 55°C / 130°F for medium-rare, or 60°C / 140°F for medium. This can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on the thickness of the steak.

4. While the steak is roasting, preheat your BBQ or oven grill / broiler to high.

5. Once the steak reaches your desired internal temperature, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes.

6. Sear the steak on the BBQ or under the oven grill / broiler for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until a nice crust forms.

7. Remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for another 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

8. Enjoy your perfectly cooked tomahawk steak!
