With well over 50 pie recipes, a few people have said that they think I like pies. They maybe right. This Mexican pie is wonderful served with fresh chilled summer veggies like tomato, lettuce, cucumber, avocado and beets, Or you can pop a tablespoon or 2 of sour cream on the top and just enjoy the pie. I have included conventional oven instructions as well as air fryer, depending on your preference.

The Recipe (makes 4 single pies)

350 gram pre-rolled flakey puff pastry

400 grams of beef minced

1 onion finely chopped

4 cloves garlic finely chopped

1 packet of taco seasoning (your preferred brand or Old El Paso)

100 ml water

Medium salsa 300 gram jar

Grated Edam cheese

Serve with:

Fresh sliced avocado (optional)

Fresh sliced tomato (optional)

Basil leaves (optional)

Air Fryer:

Bake at 180 degrees C for 12 minutes then rotate

Bake for another 12 – 16 minutes at 170 degrees C or until golden brown

Conventional Oven:

Bake whole pie fan forced at 180 degrees C for 24 minutes.

Pies are suitable for freezing up to 2 months in vacuum freezer bags.

  • 400 gramos de carne molida de res
  • 1 cebolla finamente picada
  • 4 dientes de ajo finamente picados
  • 1 paquete de sazonador para tacos
  • 100 ml de agua
  • 300 gramos de salsa mediana
  • Queso Edam rallado

Instrucciones para Air Fryer Mexican Pie

Bake at 180 degrees C for 12 minutes then rotate. Bake for another 12 – 16 minutes at 170 degrees C or until golden brown.
