Panna Cotta is a famous Italian dessert made with cream, milk and sugar then firmed with gelatine.

Our Thermomix Panna Cotta recipe adds a touch of vanilla bean paste for extra flavour and is served with a variety of fresh seasonal berries.

While similar to custard, it’s slightly different in that panna cotta contains gelatine which helps it to hold its shape.

This is the perfect recipe for dinner parties, Christmas or a simple dessert.

What You Need

Just 5 basic ingredients are needed to make our vanilla bean Thermomix panna cotta recipe.

  • Cream – use thickened, heavy or whipping cream. Light cream is not suitable for this recipe.
  • Milk – full cream milk will give you the best flavour and texture. Skim or light milk is NOT recommended.
  • Caster Sugar – a superfine sugar that is perfect for desserts as it dissolves when mixed with the ingredients.
  • Vanilla – for the best results and flavour, use a vanilla bean paste. This will give you the most delicious vanilla infused flavour. You ‘can’ use vanilla extract, but the flavour will not be as good.
  • Gelatine Leaves – or gelatine powder. See recipe notes below.

Step By Step Thermomix Instructions

You won’t believe how easy it is to make restaurant quality panna cotta using your Thermomix machine.

Step 1 – Soften The Gelatine Leaves

Place the gelatine leaves into a bowl and cover with cold water.

Leave for 7 minutes to soften then squeeze out all of the liquid.

Step 2 – Make The Custard

Cook the cream, milk sugar and vanilla bean paste in the Thermomix bowl.

Add the squeezed and softened gelatine leaves.

Mix until combined and dissolved.

Divide the panna cotta mixture between 6 serving glasses or small bowls.

Chill for a minimum of 6 hours (preferably overnight).

Serve with fresh berries.

  • Thermomix

Ingredients

  • 4 extra strength gelatine leaves or 10g gelatine powder
  • 600 g thickened cream
  • 250 g full cream milk
  • 180 g caster sugar
  • 2 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
  • fresh berries for serving

Instructions

  • Place the gelatine leaves into a deep bowl and cover with cold water. Allow to soak for 7 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, place the cream, milk, sugar and vanilla bean paste into the Thermomix bowl.

    Cook for 8 minutes, 80 degrees, Speed 3.

  • Remove the gelatine leaves from the cold water and squeeze out all of the liquid.

    Place the gelatine leaves into the Thermomix bowl. Mix for 20 seconds, Speed 3. Check that the gelatine has dissolved.

  • Pour the mixture between 6 serving bowls or glasses.

    Chill in the fridge for a minimum of 6 hours (or overnight).

    Serve with fresh berries.
