  • Dark Chocolate – I recommend using dark chocolate melts as they melt easier
  • Honey – use your favourite honey!
  • Caster Sugar – we recommend using caster sugar as it melts easily when heated
  • Plain Flour – also known as all purpose flour
  • Cocoa Powder – use unsweetened cocoa powder
  • Spices – cinnamon, allspice, ground ginger and salt
  • Nuts – use blanched and toasted almonds and hazelnuts
  • Dried Fruits – use dried figs (stems removed) and candied mixed peel

Step By Step Instructions

You won’t believe how easy it is to make Thermomix Panforte!

Step 1 – Melt

Melt the dark chocolate, honey and sugar in the Thermomix bowl.

Step 2 – Mix

Add the plain flour, cocoa powder, spices and salt and mix to combine.

Step 3 – Add The Fruit & Nuts

Add the toasted nuts and dried fruits.

Use the spatula to mix until combined (you’ll need to use your muscles!!!).

Step 4 – Bake

Press the mixture into the prepared springform pan and bake for 30 minutes (do NOT overcook).

Allow to cool completely before cutting into pieces.

  • I recommend using dark chocolate melts instead of regular dark chocolate (as they melt easier)
  • ensure that the nuts are toasted before using for the ultimate crunch and taste
  • dried figs and candied mixed peel can be found in the dried fruits/nuts aisle of the supermarket
  • do not overcook the panforte
  • store the Thermomix panforte in the fridge or at room temperature for up to 3 weeks

FAQs

Can I make this panforte recipe in an older Thermomix model?

Yes! This recipe is suitable to all Thermomix models.

Why can’t I mix the fruit and nuts through with the Thermomix?

Yes the Thermomix blades are strong… but not strong enough for panforte!!! You’ll need to use the spatula and all your muscles once you’ve added the fruits and nuts.

  • 23cm Springform Pan
  • Oven

Ingredients

  • 150 g dark chocolate melts
  • 255 g honey
  • 220 g caster sugar
  • 150 g plain flour
  • 25 g cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon allspice
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 140 g blanched almonds toasted
  • 140 g hazelnuts toasted and skins removed
  • 140 g dried figs chopped and stems removed
  • 85 g candied mixed peel

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 160 degrees celsius (fan forced).

    Grease and line a 23cm springform pan and set aside.

  • Place the dark chocolate melts, honey and sugar into the Thermomix bowl. Melt for 3 minutes, 60 degrees, Speed 3 (or until melted).
  • Add the plain flour, cocoa powder, spices and salt and mix for 10 seconds, Speed 8. Scrape down the sides of the bowl and repeat.
  • Add the toasted nuts and dried fruits.

    This mixture will be SO sticky and thick that you won’t be able to mix it using the Thermomix. Use the spatula and your muscles to mix until combined!

  • Press the mixture into the prepared springform pan.
  • Bake for 30 minutes.
  • Allow to cool completely in the pan before cutting into thin slices.
